Exploring for Silver and
Gold in Mexico's Sierra Madres with UC Resources Ltd.
by Greg Moses - AllPennyStocks.com News Reporter
September 19, 2006 (AllPennyStocks.com Media, Inc.) - The
character of the Sierra Madre Occidental is more than a scenic
mountain range following the Pacific coastline and adjoining
the Mexican plateau. The area has been for 400 years, one of
the most prolific gold and silver regions in the world.
Within a broad geographical area bordering 1000 miles
across several Mexican states, the area still holds vast
potential hidden mining wealth, especially given today's
advanced exploration and extraction techniques. One Canadian
firm sees the area's future potential with a clear vision
supported by history, and backed by today's science and
technology. UC Resources Ltd.
(TSX - Venture: UC) is an emerging Canadian explorer and
producer of Silver and Gold in Mexico's Sierra Madres.
The Company, with a Head Office in Vancouver, BC, is
following a low risk and high reward strategy by acquiring
proven mining properties in proven mining regions. The
Company's flagship property, known as the Copalquin Project,
is located in the state of Durango, Mexico. The Durango region
boasts abundant mining of silver, gold, tin, and copper over
the past centuries to present.
Recently, UC Resources increased its land position at
Copalquin by over 19,000 hectares bringing the total land
package to 64,099 hectares. With a 100% interest in this large
territory, which encompasses all of the legendary Copalquin
mines and prospects, the goal of UC Resources is to reactivate
this historically productive Copalquin Mining District.
Historically, high grade production at Copalquin has been
estimated at over 250,000 ounces of gold and 11 million ounces
of silver from just 336,000 tonnes, using rudimentary
exploration and extraction techniques. Adjacent prospects in
the region, currently host several multi million dollar ounce
equivalent gold deposits operated by other Gold exploration
firms.
UC's work at Copalquin represents the first methodical and
focused exploration of the area using today's modern
exploration techniques. The Company believes the area has been
largely overlooked , due to the lack of road access into this
mining area.
Phase I Drilling was very positive showing wide zones of
mineralization in the target area from two intersecting
prospects known as El Cometa and El Refugio. These two
prospects may represent the eastern and western borders of a
wider mineralized zone.
The preliminary results of Phase II Drilling confirmed the
potential for bulk tonnage deposits. Studies suggest that the
El Cometa and El Refugio target areas for Phase III are
approximately 10 kilometers in length and include La Soledad
which is 300 meters to the north of El Cometa.
La Soledad was previously the largest mine on the property,
and during Phase II exploration. UC has drilled an exploratory
hole below the existing mine workings at La Soledad and
encountered a 5 metre wide mineralized zone averaging 1.4
ounces/tonne gold and 50 ounces/tonne silver. These results
indicate that the mineralized zone clearly continues onward
below the previous mine workings.
Further south in the Sierra Madre mining region, the
Company recently acquired the La Yesca Mining Project with its
acquisition of (Minera Silver Creek). This project is located
near the town of La Yesca, in the state of Nayarit, Mexico,
and approximately 100 km north-west of Guadalajara City in
central Mexico.
At La Yesca, the past producing La Colorada Mine has
yielded historic silver grades. The goal here is to quickly
build-out and refurbish the mill in order to generate cashflow
from the processing of tailings, which is an inferred mineral
resources of 225,750 tonnes of tailings with a grade of 2.0
g/t gold and 220 g/t of silver. The Company expects to operate
a modern mine with the design capacity capable of processing
200 tonnes of feed per day, and with a targeted start-up of
production in the fourth quarter of 2006. The plant will use a
copper thio-sulfate extraction process known to be more
efficient for silver recoveries.
As a revenue producing source, there are approximately
225,000 tonnes of tailings, at the property, available to be
processed immediately. The tailings are reported to contain
good grades of both gold and silver. The Company expects this
mill to generate strong positive cash flow from operations
quickly.
The Company has a solid Management Team in place with a
depth of background in metals and mining led by President and
CEO Richard J. Hamelin. Mr. Hamelin's mining career dates back
to 1974 and includes production, research and development, and
engineering. UC's Exploration Consultant, Carl von Einsiedel,
is an exploration geologist with over 25 years experience
involved in many successful exploration programs.
The Company, remains well funded with cash available for
acquisitions and development, and is following a proven
business model for success. UC has been acquiring proven
mining properties and exploring in the historically prolific
Sierra Madre Mining Region.
Mexico is regarded as the world's largest Silver producing
country and the use of advanced extraction techniques will
enhance the Company's success there. UC Resources Ltd. is
definitely a Company to consider, as it acquires and operates
historically proven mining projects across Mexico.
Setting the Company apart is its two prong approach which
combines and leverages cash flow from production along with
acquisition of properties with significant exploration upside.
