Companies are lining up in droves looking to get a piece of the marijuana industry as the battle wages on for nationwide legalization of pot. In order for upstarts to build a brand, not only must the product be quality, but a marketing strategy right down to the name and logo can be a deciding factor in capturing market share. After all, not everyone has a marketing budget of Carl’s Jr. to run an eye-catching Super Bowl commercial, so building brand awareness must be explored in other ways. Dallas-based Totally Hemp Crazy, Inc. (OTCPK:THCZ) put their creativity to work, meshing together a name and logo that incorporates “THC,” the current buzz word de jour and psychotropic component of pot, the company’s stock ticker and a marijuana leaf in one fell swoop to brand the company to consumers and investors. The irony is that the company’s products don’t contain detectable amounts of THC. They’re founded on the benefits of the hemp seed, an increasingly popular product manufactured from varieties of Cannabis sativa that doesn’t come with the “high” and is known to be rich in essential omega fatty acids, vitamins and proteins.

Speaking of acronyms, the company seems to be employing the “KISS” method when explaining itself with an “About Us” in press releases that simply reads, “Totally Hemp Crazy's mission is to become the leading hemp beverage company in the world.” In another move showing THCZ marches to its own drum, the company also links to the THCZ forum on Investors’ Hangout in corporate announcements, a tactic to introduce potential investors not typically used by public companies.

The company says it intends to distribute a number of different hemp products and already sells CHILLO hemp-based soft drinks through its subsidiary that was acquired last year. The company’s first product of its own is called “Rocky Mountain High” and it’s getting ready to hit the market. According to a press release on Tuesday, the lemonade, iced tea and energy drink iterations of the hemp-infused beverage will go thru final Quality Assurance testing this week at the production facility, and upon expected approval, will be produced early next week.

Totally Hemp Crazy is finalizing its commerce-based website, which will utilize the popular purchase portal of Amazon.com. A fulfillment agreement with Amazon means that the ecommerce giant will inventory the product at their fulfillment centers, pick, pack, ship and provide the customer service for the Rocky Mountain High drinks. Using Amazon carries other perks too, including free shipping to the millions of Amazon Prime customers.

Upon the anticipated successful completion of QA testing and production run getting underway next week, the company thinks the product will be at a select Amazon fulfillment centers and be available for online purchase in two-to-three weeks. The launch will be accompanied by a social media blitz by Rhino Marketing.

In the brick-and-mortar space, Totally Hemp Crazy founder Jerry Grisaffi says he’s hopeful the Rocky Mountain High products will be hitting store shelves in the coming months through the company’s wholesale partner Mr. Checkout Distributors.

Shares of the THCZ hit 5.4 cents last August, but have been sliding since, even trending sub-penny as recently as January 30. Eight straight green closes and the stock has rallied all the way back above 3 cents, including an advance of 59.5% on Tuesday to close at the high of the day at 3.2 cents with nearly 26 million shares changing hands.
