Intellectual Property Assets Provide Foundation for Growth at VIASPACE, Inc.

by Greg Moses - AllPennyStocks.com News Reporter

November 15, 2006 (AllPennyStocks.com Media Inc.) - Intellectual Property rights offer firms a huge advantage vis-à-vis their competition both in terms of new product development, as well as in the use or license of the idea. The holder of the legal entitlement is able to leverage its business model, as it gains the exclusive rights to the subject matter.

Holding over 100 licensed and proprietary patents, VIASPACE, Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), founded in 1998; is a High Tech Industry Leader. The Company is a leader in the successful commercialization of innovations in information technologies, physical sciences, and the life sciences. Ideas originally developed, in part, and brought forward from academic research institutions and national laboratories.

In fact, core strength of the Company rest in its depth and diversity that spans several disciplines. Each area of the Company is focused on the business application potential of proven technologies originally developed with NASA and the US Department of Defense. For example, VSPC benefits greatly from the patent and software licenses that it holds from Caltech, operator of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

VIASPACE, Inc. operates with three key subsidiaries. One very promising subsidiary is its Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC). VSPC holds a majority interest in the Company which has positioned itself as a leading provider of methanol fuel cartridges.

Fuel cells are expected to gain substantial market share, as they offer longer operating time when compared to lithium ion batteries. Plus, devices can be instantly recharged by simply replacing the disposable fuel cartridge.

Portable electronic devices such as notebook computers and mobile phones are expected to be powered by fuel cells in the not so distant future. Already, Toshiba, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Samsung, and Sanyo have shown prototypes of fuel cell powered laptops.

On the Marketing front, the Company is looking to expand rapidly into the Japanese market. VSPC has retained Denda Associates to provide consulting and business development expertise, in that effort. Denda will introduce VIASPACE, and its fuel cell
Subsidiary, to key industry leaders in Japan.

Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation already has licensed more than 56 issued and 62 pending patents on this advanced technology from Caltech. The Business Unit has just filed an additional patent application for a miniature fuel cartridge valve. The valve will control the release of fuel from the cartridge. As the fuel cell and cartridge both must contain valves; this patent application compliments a previous patent application on the fuel cell valve.

It is anticipated that fuel cells will have strong upside recurring revenue potential as well, as they are disposable. Consumers will use fuel cells much like disposable alkaline batteries, cigarette lighters, or printer cartridges.

Another key VIASPACE subsidiary is its wholly owned subsidiary, Arroyo Sciences, Inc. which focuses on inference and sensor data fusion technology. This Business Unit has both commercial and homeland security applications.

Here again, Intellectual Property plays a key role in the success of Arroyo. Key Company building blocks were developed at NASA/JPL and licensed from Caltech. This includes the commercialized license to a software program called SHINE.

Homeland Security represents a huge opportunity for the Company. Homeland Security applications include maritime and port security, improvised explosive detection, ordinance remediation, first responder safety, and supply chain. Arroyo Sciences was awarded a contract to provide sensor data fusion software as part of a Homeland Security effort to enhance port security.

A third subsidiary, Ionfinity LLC, has been recently awarded a Phase II STTR contract extention which includes additional funding by the U.S. Air Force. The Contract held jointly with Aerospace Corp. and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory involves a soft ionization membrane. The membrane serves as a micro ion engine for micro and nano satellite station keeping.

Ionfinity LLC is a Company working to develop next generation mass spectromotry technology based on fundamental inventions made at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The future of advanced mass spectromotry will allow for the easy detection of chemical and biological warfare agents, narcotics, and explosives.

The Ionfinity LLC System is designed to allow high sensitivity and specificity in a portable system in the size of a carry-on suitcase in the near-term and a shoe box or smaller size in the future. With its projected ruggedness, low power consumption and cost, the system could be deployed for many applications, where monitoring of air, water or other substances is required.

VSPC is well positioned for growth with Private Financing in place and available for business expansion. In one recent transaction, the Company announced a $3.8 million dollar debenture. In another separate standby transaction, the Company entered into a 36 month Standby Equity Distribution Agreement for up to an additional $20 million in common stock equity financing.

All being said, it is easy to see that VIASPACE, Inc. is not the typical OTC bulletin board or micro-cap firm. VSPC is clearly a strong and solid high technology leader.
