While water is the most common substance on earth, only 2.5% of the global water supply is fresh. The supply of fresh water would be sufficient to meet the need of ever growing global population. Unfortunately, very little of the fresh water currently available is actually drinkable. According to the Pacific Institute, an estimated 52 million to 118 million people will die of water-related diseases by 2020. The tragedy is that many of these diseases can be prevented if fresh water bodies are not polluted. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that each year an estimated 5 million people die due to lack of clean drinking water resources.

There is an urgent need to clean the world’s fresh water resources. Indeed, the need has created a multi-billion dollar water filtration industry.

An emerging player in this growing industry is Seychelle Environmental Technologies (OTCQB:SYEV). Based in San Juan Capistrano, California, SYEV is engaged in the design, manufacturing and supply of revolutionary water filtration systems. The company’s water filtration systems feature breakthrough technology, including Ionic Adsorption Micro Filtration. This breakthrough technology is capable of reducing up to 99.99% of all four types of contamination; aesthetic, microbiological, chemical, and dissolved solids.

SYEV’s filters include the Seychelle Regular Filter, which removes up to 99.99% of chlorine, chemicals, heavy metals and Radon 222. The company also has the Standard Filter, which is ideal for any indoor or outdoor use. Then there is the Advanced Filter, which is made of the same media as the Standard Filter with the addition of EPA approved iodinated resin. SYEV also offers the the Seychelle Radiological Filter, the Seychelle Extreme Rad/Adv Filter and the Seychelle Alkaline Filter.

This morning, Seychelle announced increased third-quarter revenue guidance. For the fiscal third quarter ending November 30, 2015, Seychelle said that its revenue is expected to be between $2.8 million and $3 million. This compares to revenue of $2.7 million reported in the second quarter and $2.3 million reported in the first quarter. The company said that the increase in revenue is mainly due to continued increases in the demand for private label products, targeted sales toward the emergency & disaster preparedness market, and the launch of the company’s pH20 product line. SYEV said that the launch of the pH20 product line increases the alkalinity of tap water between 8.0 and 9.5 pH.

Shares of SYEV have been in an uptrend in 2015, currently around their 52 week high and today’s news further boosted the stock up another 7% heading into the close of trading.
