Disappointing Retail Earnings Send Markets Lower

Canadian equities gained this week while U.S. markets posting another week of losses as the fear spread beyond technology stocks. Treasury yields also fell as investors sought safety in government bonds and the words bear and recession reentered investors’ vocabularies. Interestingly, foreign investors are noticing Canadian markets, acquiring $46.9 billion of Canadian securities during March, the largest investment since April 2020.
