Serial Inventor Behind Zicam, MDrive Supercharges Team At Small OTC Company

“It’s like someone took jumper cables to my body,” that’s what ESPN legend and radio personality Dan Patrick had to say about trying Mdrive, a line of nutritional supplements founded by serial entrepreneur and product development guru Gary Kehoe. Patrick’s sentiment has been echoed by other superstars of the sports world, including U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick.

If Kehoe’s name sounds familiar, it’s because many products he touches turn to retail gold. In addition to Mdrive, Kehoe also founded Zicam, the top-selling zinc supplement in the U.S. in the VMS (vitamins, minerals, and supplements) cough/cold shortening category. Zicam owner, Matrixx Initiatives, was acquired in 2020 by Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (NYSE: CHD) for $530 million.

Kehoe is renowned for his uncanny ability to identify innovative new product concepts and take them from napkin to retail. He is an inventor or co-inventor on over 20 U.S. patents that include new products, processes and equipment and has formulated over a dozen consumer products sold on store shelves. Previously, he held senior management positions for Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Gum Tech International, and Nabisco Foods Company.

He has also written research papers and reports related to various topics, such as functional and medical foods, dietary supplements, OTC drugs, homeopathic remedies, and innovative drug/actives delivery systems.

Kehoe isn’t done yet, last week letting it be known that he is collaborating with Sibannac, Inc. (OTC: SNNC). Kehoe is serving as the lead designer behind Sibannac's secret next-generation wellness product. Sibannac is a brand incubator, accelerator, developer, and marketer with an FDA-registered manufacturing facility in Scottsdale, Arizona and a retail store and secondary R&D center in Old Town Scottsdale.

Sibannac, who has a history in the cannabinoid (CBD) space, last year pivoted into a company with much more depth. In addition to investing in and assisting other brands through its The Campus Co (a shortening of “the campus community”), Sibannac is developing a product portfolio of its own.

Management has kept development of the upcoming wellness product mostly covert to date. The latest peak under the hood was disclosing Kehoe’s involvement and updating that design and formulation are done with various delivery systems being evaluated as part of the prototype phase. In layman speak, the scientists have figured out the recipe for the product, now they are on a quest to understand the optimal way to get it into the body, which could mean a food, drink, powder, capsule, etc.

It's a collaboration of peers at Sibannac, where Kehoe is working with a team led by Eric Stoll, a marketing genius in his own right. Last year, Sibannac began merging operations with Lifetime Branding, a brand-building company operated by Stoll with a roster of clients including Coca-Cola, Titleist, Foot Joy, Converse, Colgate-Palmolive and many more. Stoll came onboard Sibannac as Chief Marketing Officer last year. Interestingly, Colgate is also a client of Dreamspan, the product innovation company of Kehoe. Other Dreamspan clients include Procter & Gamble, Herbalife, CVS, J&J, and Walgreens, to name just a few.

Stoll is in the process of migrating his entire client base from Lifetime Branding to The Campus Co.

Stoll and Kehoe collaborating is the silent part that has now been said. Men with track records like theirs don’t stick their name on the line with a $3 million company unless they expect big things.

Sibannac CEO David Mersky apparently sees things the same way. In the strongest demonstration of commitment to the future of the business, Mersky has gone, in his words, “all-in,” agreeing to swap $475,000 in compensation for shares of SNNC.
