Gatekeeper Systems Inc (TSX-Venture:GSI) had reason to celebrate Tuesday morning, trumpeting news of a major order from a U.S. rail carrier.

The company, based in Abbotsford, B.C., supplies high-definition video surveillance systems to protect people in transit, received a $1.5-million purchase order from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA) to supply and install video system solutions for SEPTA trains.

SEPTA operates bus, rapid transit, commuter rail, light rail, and electric trolley bus services for nearly four million people in Philadelphia. SEPTA is one of the largest transit authorities in the United States, providing over 300 million passenger rides annually on over 3,600 vehicles which includes approximately 970 trains.

Said CEO Doug Dyment, “SEPTA has rapidly embraced video evidence as protection against injury and damages claims, and during their 2016 fiscal year they reported a decrease in related liability of $33.8 million U.S. It's clear to us that the U.S. transit market represents significant opportunity for Gatekeeper, and SEPTA is an important cornerstone relationship for us in the U.S. transit market."

Gatekeeper shares chugged ahead by a penny, or 10.5%, Tuesday morning to 10.5 cents, or volume of 566,000
