Canadian gold miners are the envy of the world, and Wednesday morning, one of them, St. John’s, Newfoundland-based Aurion Resources Ltd. (TSX-Venture:AU) came out with exciting international news.

AU told investors it has intersected a wide zone of gold mineralization in the first two drillholes of 10 at its recently initiated 2019 drilling campaign at the Aamurusko Northwest (NW) prospect on its wholly-owned Risti Project in northern Finland.

Risti reports one hole, AM19095, displayed 13.31 grams per tonne gold (g/t Au) over 19.54 metres -- including 22.58 g/t Au over 8.18 m.

Another, called AM19094, intersected 1.84 g/t Au over 31.12 m (partial assays received). AM19094 is currently being extended.

CEO Mike Basha has called the results “encouraging”.

Shares climbed 13 cents, or 10.2%, late Wednesday morning, to $1.40, on volume topping 131,000 shares.
