Canadian Patent and Trademark Office Issues Patent to Vancouver-Based Company

It is not often that a headline in the Waste Management sector captivates readers. However, when a recently-patented technology generates renewable fuel from waste it seems to be a little more interesting.

That’s exactly what happened this morning when the Vancouver-based Cielo Waste Solutions Corp (CMC:CSE) announced that the Canadian Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Canadian Patent to 1888711 Alberta Inc., which is a private company from whom Cielo holds its exclusive license to a technology for converting waste into renewable fuel. This news comes just months after Cielo announced the issuance of a U.S. patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the same technology. According to the release, Cielo “holds an exclusive and perpetual license to commercialize the Technology, intended to be done through the building of renewable fuel facilities ("Facilities") for the production of renewable diesel as well as through sublicensing the Technology to third parties to build Facilities.”

Investors and traders seem to have an optimistic view of this news, as the shares are trading up 1.5 cents (or 21%) to $.085/share. This is a welcomed move for investors that have been hanging on to these shares ever since hitting its 52-week low in early summer.
