In today’s always connected world, sports fans are no longer complacent simply having access to their favorite team through television. They, of course, still want it from their couch on the big screen, and smart televisions have greatly enhanced that capability, but they also want games on their Internet-connected devices as well so they don’t have to miss a single play while on the go. Plainview, New York-based NeuLion, Inc. (TSX:NLN), a provider of live and on-demand content, is making sure that happens. The company supplies an end-to-end solution that allows content owners, distributors, cable operators and broadcasters to deliver content to consumers on laptops, tablets, smartphones, computers and other connected devices. NeuLion offers a comprehensive package that includes DVR functionality, a content management system, instant replays, slow motion, different camera angles, telestrators and more. Customers include major leagues, colleges and regional networks and broadcasters, such as NFL Game Pass, NBA TV, NHL Gamecenter and UFC TV.

In order to make it all happen, NeuLion has partnered with the biggest names in the business, including Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL), Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CSCO) and Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT) to name just a few.

Hockey fans are some of the most passionate fans on earth. NeuLion has established a strong presence in hockey with a bevy of NHL and other professional hockey teams as customers.

On Friday, NeuLion said that it has extended its partnership with The American Hockey League. A new five-year deal has been signed, which will deliver all AHL hockey games both live and on-demand through the digital service, called AHL Live. Further, the website, www.ahllive.com has been revamped, giving it a new look and features to enhance the viewing experience for more than 1,200 AHL games this year on all types of devices. Use of the platform also comes with DVR controls, social media sharing and content such as AHL Weekly that isn’t available anywhere else.

"To be able to give hockey fans around the world the ability to watch high quality video of live AHL action -- whether it's on a desktop, a laptop, a smartphone or a tablet -- is a tremendous opportunity for us," said David Andrews, president and chief executive of the American Hockey League. "We're excited to continue our partnership with NeuLion, and to bring the excitement of our league to our fans wherever they are."

Shares of NeuLion have put together a strong 2013 with the constant vertical and horizontal expansion of the company. Shares have essentially doubled this year through Thursday’s closing price of 58 cents. With Friday’s move to hit 62 cents, shares have hit their highest level since May 2010.
