Mawson Samples 2,375 g/t Gold at Finland Project

Outcrop and mini-drill sampling has been positive to date at Mawson Resources Limited's (TSX:MAW)(OTCPK:MWSNF) Rompas-Rajapalot project in Northern Finland. Shares are getting a lift to kick-off the new week with the latest data further suggested high-grade gold at the property.
Previous grab sample results released on October 11 showed grades up to 851 g/t gold, with an average of 21.6 g/t gold across 50 samples. The Vancouver-based company is investigating the recently discovered East Rompas prospect located within its 100% owned Rompas-Rajapalot project, 500 metres east of the six-kilometer long Rompas high-grade gold vein system.
The results disclosed on Monday included some stunning discoveries, with samples including finds of 2,375 g/t gold, 1,284 g/t gold, 642 g/t gold and 216 g/t gold from along a 750-metre trend. The 2,375 g/t gold was the highest to date. 30 samples this month have returned grades over 0.1 g/t gold. The average grade of those 30 samples was 201.1 g/t gold and a median of a more down-to-earth 0.82 g/t gold.
Finding outcrops with such high grades is very compelling and certainly supportive of further exploration. By nature, though, samples are selective and may not represent aggregate average grades across the property. The company needs to get to drilling to validate the outstanding initial data.
Toronto-listed shares have popped as high as 42 cents in Monday morning trading, representing the highest level since April, but have slipped back a little to 39 cents for an early gain of 20.0% about two hours into the session.
