The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles segment is fast becoming one of the most attractive technology sectors. The solid propositions offered by this segment have also attracted a number of companies, borth public and private. Currently, at the higher end, the segment is dominated by the likes of GoPro, Amazon and Google. However, there are several other smaller companies which are in a position to give these big names solid competition. Valmie Resources Inc. (OTCPK:VMRI), operational since 2011, is one such company. Valmie Resources announced that it has ordered five multi-rotor fixed-wing Transition BASE Systems from ALTI UAS, which specializes in unmanned aircraft systems. These new aircraft will provide the company with an edge in an ever-crowding drone market. The aircraft are capable of taking off and landing vertically, which will make them highly useable in different kinds of conditions.

Valmie Resources also reported that its new purchases feature state of the art functionalities such as aerodynamic design. With this design, the drone is able to have minimal deployment time. The company claimed that these UAVs are case to flight ready in less than five minutes. The drones are also user friendly as these do not require elaborate launch and landing hardware.

These new machines will help Valmie Resources in differentiating its product offerings in the market. The company CEO and president Gerald B. Hammack stated that these aircraft may be customized using a wide range of different software and hardware. He also elaborated that the company is currently working on developing a new unmanned aircraft.

Valmie Resources is currently working towards enhancing the capabilities of its upcoming unmanned aerial systems. The company recently visited University of Kentucky to explore collaboration opportunities with researchers and students there. Valmie Resources is expected to come up with a formal proposal to work with Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) Department and Unmanned Systems Research Consortium (USRC) of the university.

While the company is making significant advances towards designing a robust product, Valmie Resources has had numerous management related issues. In the past, the company’s accounts have received strict SEC scrutiny. However, since then the company has shown remarkable recovery. Its stock is up 235% in the past one year while its year to date returns stand at over 172%.

Valmie Resources had a busy 2016 as the company’s wholly owned subsidiary Vertiteck moved into its new headquarters. The subsidiary deals with fabrication of products. The company also released three drone racing products through this subsidiary. It also expanded its team in order to boost its operations. The impact of these developments is likely to help the stock in maintaining its positive trajectory.
