The marijuana industry is abuzz after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) put its support behind re-scheduling marijuana from a Schedule I drug alongside heroin as part of the Controlled Substances Act to a much less restrictive Schedule III controlled substance, joining the ranks of testosterone. The agency completed a comprehensive review of cannabis last year at the behest of President Joe Biden and now has officially recommended the re-classification, a move pot advocates have been advocating for for years.
