Aben Resources Gears Up for 5,000 Metre Drilling Program in BC’s Golden Triangle By: Tomas Ronolski - AllPennyStocks.com News

Would you believe that a mineral-rich area that produced a 73-ounce gold nugget (worth about $93,000 at today’s prices), the Snip mine that produced one million ounces of gold at 27.5 grams per tonne (g/t), the Eskay Creek mine that produced three million ounces of gold at 49 g/t and 160 million ounces of silver and what Christian Science Monitor once called “one of the greatest silver and gold mines in the world” (Premier Gold mine) was nearly dormant with activity two decades ago?  That’s exactly what happened in British Columbia’s famed “Golden Triangle” after low gold prices in the 1990s made it uneconomical to work at the remote location that was woefully lacking infrastructure to contain costs.

To this day, many areas of the Golden Triangle remain essentially unexplored, but that is starting to change.  Investment has resulted in the necessary infrastructure being put in place to make mining the region located by the Alaskan border affordable.  The gold, silver and base metals remain buried in the ground where they’ve been for millions of years.  The difference is that now explorers have the infrastructure and modern technology to economically go get them.

One company that wants to make a name for itself and revitalize mining activity in the Golden Triangle is Aben Resources (TSX-Venture:ABN) (OTCQB:ABNAF).  The Vancouver-based mineral explorer’s leadership team includes Chairman Ronald Netolitzky, a man directly involved in the discovery of the Eskay Creek, Snip and Brewery Creek deposits and mines in the Golden Triangle.

Adding to its land positions in Saskatchewan and the Yukon, Aben in 2016 acquired the 23,000-hectare Forrest Kerr Project situated in the heart of the Golden Triangle.  Utilizing a large historical data set to define drill targets, Aben’s 2017 drill program at the project was a success.  The company continues to focus on the Boundary North Zone, where three separate drill holes last year, collared from the same drill pad, cut a near-surface high-grade zone of gold-silver-copper mineralization, in addition to broad intercepts containing gold bearing quartz veins.   Highlights from the drill program included an intersect of 6.7 g/t gold (Au), 6.4 g/t silver (Ag) and 0.9% copper (Cu) over 10 metres, including 18.9 g/t Au, 16.6 g/t Ag and 2.2% Cu over 3.0 metres, which contributed to an average grade of 0.26 g/t Au over 387 metres in hole FK17-04.

Nearby, hole FK17-05 returned 21.5 g/t Au, 28.5 g/t Ag and 3.1% Cu over 6 metres at a slightly greater depth.

With the frozen tundra of winter behind them, Aben is back at it at Forrest Kerr for another summer drill program again in the Boundary North Zone.  Last week, Aben said that construction of camp facilities and core shack is already underway and drill pad construction will follow immediately after.  The plan is to conduct 5,000 metres of diamond drilling across about 18 holes to better understand and expand the resource.

The mineralization in the zone remains open in all directions, demonstrating that the Boundary Zone has the potential for significant precious metals, as well as copper.  The relatively under-explored anomaly spans a whopping 8 square kilometers.

“Notable regional discoveries by Pretium, GT Gold, Garibaldi Resources and others have illustrated the significant discovery upside remaining in the district and we are confident in the potential at Forrest Kerr given the newly discovered and historic high-grade mineralization there as well as the numerous untested gold-in-soil anomalies present,” said Jim Pettit, Aben President and CEO in the announcement of kicking-off the latest drilling program.

Shares of ABN have climbed from a low of 12 cents in April to more than double at a nearly 8-month high at 25 cents earlier this month.  Shares continue to hold in the area of 22 cents as well as over their 50 and 200 day moving averages, forming what technical traders would consider an ascending triangle pattern.  Given that the summer drill season often provides a boon in share value for companies operating in the great white north, investors will likely have their eyes planted on the chart looking for a technical breakout underpinned by solid fundamentals.
