Veralto Corporation VLTO shares have gained 13.2% in the past three months as earnings expectations improved and second-quarter operating results strengthened. The advance puts the focus on whether execution can support further gains.
Water Quality growth, wider margins and higher 2026 guidance favor the case. A premium valuation, however, suggests that investors may already be pricing in continued progress.
Why VLTO Shares Gained Momentum
The share-price rise coincided with a better-than-expected quarter, higher full-year guidance and favorable earnings estimate revisions. Together, those developments may have strengthened confidence in Veralto’s near-term earnings trajectory, though they cannot be treated as the move’s sole causes.
Adjusted earnings reached $1.11 per share, up 19.4% year over year. The result included a 5-cent benefit from tariff refunds, while the underlying business still delivered 14% adjusted earnings growth.
Water Quality Strength Supports VLTO
Water Quality sales increased 10.1% to $908 million, including 5.7% core growth. Price and volume contributed nearly evenly, showing that the segment’s expansion was not dependent on pricing alone.
Chemical water treatment posted 10.7% core growth. Demand rose at double-digit rates across data centers, chemical processing, oil and gas, and food and beverage markets, supporting a broad industrial growth base.
Xylem Inc. XYL, a global water-technology provider serving utility, industrial, commercial and residential markets, offers investors another way to track spending on water infrastructure and efficiency.
Margin Expansion Adds Fuel for Veralto
Veralto’s adjusted operating profit increased 11.7% to $363 million, faster than the 7.6% rise in sales. The adjusted operating margin expanded 90 basis points to 24.6%.
Faster profit growth can support earnings momentum as revenue scales. Still, most of the quarter’s margin expansion came from tariff refunds, making continued operating leverage without that benefit an important test.
Ecolab Inc. ECL is also relevant to this theme because its water technologies serve industrial customers and data-center applications, where efficiency, reuse and cooling needs are expanding.
Raised Guidance Strengthens the VLTO Case
Management raised 2026 adjusted earnings guidance to $4.35-$4.43 per share from $4.20-$4.28. The new range implies 12%-14% year-over-year growth and includes the 5-cent tariff-refund benefit recorded in the second quarter.
Veralto also lifted its core sales growth forecast to 4%-4.5% from 3%-4.5%. Adjusted operating margin is projected to expand 25-50 basis points, while second-half core growth is expected to accelerate to roughly 5%-6%.
Valuation Could Limit VLTO’s Upside
The operating picture is favorable, but valuation leaves less room for disappointment. VLTO trades at a trailing enterprise-value-to-EBITDA multiple of 17.2X, above the respective sub-industry and sector levels.

That premium indicates that investors already expect sustained growth and execution. Slower industrial demand, weaker volume or margin performance below guidance could therefore weigh more heavily on the stock.
VLTO’s Rank and Style Scores in Context
The bottom line is that Water Quality demand, earnings growth and raised guidance can keep supporting momentum, but the stock’s premium multiple makes future gains increasingly dependent on consistent delivery.
VLTO currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), aligning with favorable near-term earnings estimate trends. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.
Its Momentum Score of B supports the recent setup and is considered favorable when paired with a top Zacks Rank.
The Value Score of C, Growth Score of C and VGM Score of C keep the broader risk-reward picture balanced. Those middle-tier scores do not negate the positive Rank, but they suggest valuation and growth characteristics are less uniformly favorable.
