Netlist, Inc. NLST used its second-quarter 2026 earnings call to emphasize two parallel priorities — capturing strong demand for constrained memory products and advancing next-generation AI memory technologies while pursuing patent enforcement.
Revenues of $109.8 million beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $90 million. The bottom line came in at break-even, meeting the consensus estimate. Management said that tight DRAM supply, product execution and stronger profitability supported the quarter.
NLST Product Revenues Ride on Tight DRAM Supply
CEO Chuck Hong said that much of the quarter's revenues came from the resale of difficult-to-source DRAM products, with constrained industry supply supporting demand.
CFO Gail Sasaki said that second-quarter revenues rose 163% year over year, while gross profit increased to $22.9 million from $1.4 million. Operating income improved to $1.3 million from a $6.2-million loss a year earlier.
Hong added that Netlist's global sourcing network and continued support from Hynix have helped it procure DDR4 and DDR5 products despite tight availability. He characterized the company as relatively well-positioned to source constrained DRAM.
Netlist Builds Its AI Memory Product Pipeline
Hong said that Netlist's Lightning portfolio of overclocked, low-latency DDR5 RDIMM and UDIMM products continued to gain market traction.
Hong said that the company's CXL NVvault is sampling with system-on-chip vendors, hyperscalers and major OEMs for future platforms. Development also continues on MRDIMM and other high-performance server memory architectures.
In the Q&A, a ROTH Capital analyst asked how much revenue Netlist-branded products are generating. Hong informed that Lightning and other branded products are producing revenues in the double-digit millions, while MRDIMM and CXL technologies remain in development with prospective customers.
NLST Keeps Patent Enforcement at Center Stage
Hong devoted substantial attention to Netlist's patent portfolio and ongoing actions involving Samsung and Micron.
Hong said that the second ITC investigation against Samsung and named customers was instituted in July, while an evidentiary hearing in the first Samsung ITC case is scheduled to begin in late November. He also said that oral arguments in Micron's appeal of a $445-million jury verdict are scheduled for Sept. 9.
Hong continued to frame DDR5, MRDIMM and HBM patents as strategically important because they cover technologies used in next-generation memory architectures for AI computing.
Netlist Sees Q3 Product Revenues Near Q2
Sasaki said that Netlist does not formally provide guidance, but current third-quarter booking and shipping activity supports an expectation for product revenues to be similar to the second quarter.
Sasaki said that the company ended the second quarter with $40.7 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash, along with minimal debt. She also cited a $10-million working-capital credit line and about $74 million available under an equity line.
Sasaki's commentary kept the near-term outlook centered on continued product demand and sourcing execution rather than a formal quarterly forecast.
NLST Q&A Focuses on Licensing & Supply
A ROTH Capital analyst asked about the status of the Hynix license and broader renewal discussions. Hong informed that Netlist regularly talks with existing and potential licensees and described progress as good, without providing specific terms.
The analyst also asked whether constrained supply could limit resale revenues. CEO Chuck Hong said that Netlist's long-standing sourcing relationships and Hynix support continue to provide access to DDR4 and DDR5 products.
On litigation structure, Hong clarified that several Samsung proceedings are connected through overlapping patents and that district court cases involving patents under ITC review can be stayed after an ITC investigation begins.
Netlist's Focus After Q2
Hong and Sasaki kept the post-quarter focus on sustaining product revenues, broadening Netlist-branded memory sales, and moving newer CXL and MRDIMM technologies toward commercial adoption.
Hong also maintained patent licensing and enforcement as a core strategic priority, with several legal milestones scheduled over the coming months.
