Amneal Pharmaceuticals AMRX enters the second half of 2026 with higher guidance and a broader product pipeline. The company is expanding complex generics, biosimilars and specialty medicines while adjusted earnings and EBITDA improve.
The trade-off is clear. Rytary has lost exclusivity, generic pricing remains competitive and complex launches carry regulatory and adoption risk. Valuation also sends a mixed signal, making execution central to the buy case.
AMRX's 2026 Outlook Keeps Moving Higher
Amneal raised 2026 net revenue guidance to $3.10-$3.20 billion from $3.05-$3.15 billion. Adjusted EBITDA guidance increased to $750-$780 million, while adjusted EPS guidance moved to $0.96-$1.06.
The higher outlook follows improving profitability. During the first half of 2026, adjusted EBITDA rose 16% and adjusted EPS increased 27% year over year, supporting continued investment in higher-value products.
Amneal's Valuation Offers a Mixed Signal
AMRX trades at 1.8X trailing 12-month sales per share, below the Zacks sub-industry's 2.5X. Yet the current multiple is well above the stock's five-year median of 0.6X.
The picture is less favorable on trailing price-to-EBITDA. AMRX trades at 7.7X versus 7.1X for the sub-industry, so the stock does not screen as uniformly inexpensive across valuation measures.
AMRX's New Products Expand the Growth Runway
Amneal expects 20 to 30 new Affordable Medicines launches each year. Management also sees existing products and new launches potentially adding $1 billion-$2 billion of revenues through 2030, with complex products playing an important role.
Biosimilars, complex injectables and the GLP-1 manufacturing collaboration with Pfizer broaden the opportunity set. The completed Kashiv BioSciences acquisition also gives Amneal an integrated biosimilars platform.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries TEVA provides a relevant industry comparison. Its second-quarter 2026 key innovative brands grew 43% in local-currency terms even as lower generics revenues weighed on total sales, showing how new-product growth can offset pressure in generics.
Viatris VTRS is also relying on new products to support growth. Its second-quarter 2026 revenues rose 5% on a reported basis, with new product sales among the drivers.
Amneal Faces a Near-Term Specialty Reset
Rytary's loss of exclusivity is the clearest near-term pressure point. An authorized generic is already available and Amneal expects additional generic entrants, constraining Specialty growth in 2026.
Newer products are providing an offset. Crexont, Unithroid and Brekiya helped Specialty revenues rise 17% in the second quarter, but management expects stronger segment growth to become more apparent from 2027.
AMRX's Execution Risks Argue for Discipline
Much of Amneal's growth plan depends on complex injectables, biosimilars and specialty therapies. These products require demanding development, manufacturing and regulatory execution, leaving the company exposed to approval delays, complete response letters and slower adoption.
Generics pricing remains another risk. Intense competition and buyer negotiating leverage can pressure realized prices and margins even when volumes improve, increasing the importance of product mix and execution.
AMRX's Value Case Gets a Strong Near-Term Signal
The bottom line is constructive but not one-sided. Higher guidance, a broader product mix and a sales-multiple discount support AMRX, while Rytary erosion and execution risk leave less room for disappointment.
AMRX carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), reflecting favorable near-term earnings-estimate revision trends. Its Value Score of B is supportive for value-focused investors, but the Growth Score of F, Momentum Score of D and VGM Score of D show weaker alignment across other investing styles. That combination supports a selective rather than automatic buy case.
