CRUS Falls 12.2% in the Past Month as Growth Risks Pressure Outlook

Shares of Cirrus Logic, Inc. CRUS have fallen 12.2% in the past month, putting the latest pullback in focus. The question is whether the decline has created a better entry point or reflects risks that may persist.

Near-term growth is being checked by a softer PC outlook, earnings estimate weakness and margin pressure. At the same time, smartphone demand and a broader high-performance mixed-signal pipeline provide offsets, making the setup more mixed than the stock move alone suggests.

CRUS Selloff Meets Softer Near-Term Growth

For the fiscal second quarter, Cirrus expects revenues of $510 million to $570 million. At the midpoint, that would be up 17% sequentially but down 4% year over year, showing that seasonal recovery does not translate into annual growth.

The broader fiscal 2027 picture is also restrained. Projected sales growth is 3%, while projected EPS growth is negative 19.3%. Those figures help explain why the 12.2% decline cannot be judged on price alone.

Cirrus Logic's PC Delays Extend the Growth Gap

Cirrus lowered its fiscal 2027 PC revenue expectations after constrained supply of a key industry platform, memory and component shortages and delayed model introductions pushed expected growth out. New launches generally carry higher content per system and, in many cases, higher volumes.

Management views these issues as timing rather than a fundamental change. Customer interest in Cirrus' low-power smart codec for AI-enabled PCs remained strong in the June quarter, and the company advanced engagements with multiple customers on designs targeted for calendar 2027.

CRUS Margins Face Pricing and Cost Pressure

Gross-margin flexibility remains limited by previously anticipated pricing reductions and higher freight and supply-chain costs. Favorable product mix helped offset part of that pressure, while cost reductions softened the sequential impact from pricing.

For the fiscal second quarter, Cirrus expects GAAP gross margin of 52%-54%. The range includes a temporary benefit from wafers bought under prior GlobalFoundries agreements at favorable pricing, and that tranche is expected to largely sell through during the quarter.

Cirrus Logic's Mobile Pipeline Offers a Counterweight

The smartphone business remains the main counterweight. First-quarter revenues rose 12.9% year over year to $459.7 million, while high-performance mixed-signal revenues increased to $210.7 million from $167.2 million. Camera, battery and power programs offer paths to push mixed-signal content higher.

Broader analog demand is not uniformly weak. Texas Instruments Incorporated TXN reported second-quarter 2026 revenue growth of 23%, led by industrial, data center and automotive demand. Analog Devices, Inc. ADI reported fiscal second-quarter 2026 revenue growth across all end markets, led by industrial and communications. For Cirrus, however, customer concentration remains a major constraint, with roughly 90% of first-quarter revenues tied to its largest customer.

CRUS Signals Favor Caution After the Pullback

The 12.2% decline lowers the entry price, but it does not remove the operating risks. Softer PC timing, muted fiscal 2027 growth expectations and margin pressure leave several variables that need to improve before the pullback alone becomes a stronger investment signal.

CRUS currently carries a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell). It has a Growth Score of B, Momentum Score of B and VGM Score of B, while its Value Score is C. The B grades show favorable characteristics in several styles, but Style Scores complement rather than override the Zacks Rank. With the Rank still at #5, the near-term signal remains cautious.
