Koninklijke Philips PHG has expanded its women's health ultrasound portfolio with the launch of the eV14-2v transvaginal transducer, designed for gynecology and early obstetrics imaging. The FDA 510(k)-cleared and CE-marked solution will be showcased at the ISUOG 2026 World Congress, reinforcing the company's focus on advancing ultrasound innovation.
From an investor's perspective, the launch strengthens Philips' position in the premium ultrasound market by broadening its women's health offerings with a solution aimed at improving workflow efficiency and clinical versatility. The addition complements the company's AI-enabled and connected imaging ecosystem, supporting its long-term strategy to drive adoption of higher-value imaging technologies across healthcare providers.
Likely Trend of PHG Stock Following the News
Following the announcement, shares of PHG traded flat on Friday. Year to date, shares of the company have lost 4.4% compared with the industry’s 17.4% decline. However, the S&P 500 has risen 12.2% in the same timeframe.
The eV14-2v launch is likely to strengthen Philips' long-term ultrasound franchise by expanding its differentiated women's health portfolio with a premium imaging solution that reduces workflow disruptions and enhances diagnostic capabilities across gynecology and early obstetrics. Its compatibility with Philips' broader ultrasound ecosystem, including Collaboration Live and flagship imaging platforms, can encourage platform stickiness, support replacement demand and drive higher-value equipment and accessory sales, reinforcing the company's competitive position in the growing women's health imaging market.
PHG currently has a market capitalization of $25.45 billion.

More on the News
The eV14-2v was developed to address a common challenge in gynecology and early obstetrics imaging, where clinicians often need to switch between transducers to balance penetration and image resolution, disrupting workflow and extending exam times. The new transducer combines enhanced penetration, improved image quality and a wider field of view in a single lightweight device. Compared with Philips' previous-generation 3D9-3v transducer, it delivers 41.7% greater penetration, 10% higher 2D resolution, a 15.8% wider field of view and a 22% lighter design, supporting both routine and more complex women's health examinations.
Built specifically for obstetrics and gynecology, the eV14-2v incorporates Philips' PureWave crystal technology and an ergonomic design that enhances clinician comfort during extended examinations. The improved imaging capabilities provide detailed visualization for evaluating infertility, pelvic pain, endometriosis and uterine fibroids. The system also supports early fetal assessment by enabling clinicians to distinguish fetal cardiac chambers as early as 13 weeks of pregnancy, when the heart is approximately the size of a corn kernel, strengthening its utility across a wide range of women's healthcare applications.
Philips has also integrated the eV14-2v with its Collaboration Live platform, enabling real-time remote consultations during ultrasound examinations. The feature allows specialists to review live imaging, guide sonographers during scans and collaborate with care teams without requiring patients to travel, potentially expanding access to specialty care in underserved communities.
Industry Prospects Favoring the Market
According to the data provided by Grand View Research, the global obstetrics & gynecology ultrasound devices market size was estimated at $2.13 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $2.84 billion by 2030, expanding at a CAGR of 4.94% from 2025 to 2030.
Growth in the forecast period can be attributed to the increasing prevalence of gynecological and obstetric disorders, such as uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and high-risk pregnancies, creating a demand for early and accurate diagnoses.
Other News
Recently, PHG announced that its EU-backed COMBINE-CT project has advanced from technology development to clinical validation, marking a key milestone in its AI-enabled cardiac imaging strategy. The four-year initiative, launched in 2023, has begun five multicenter clinical studies to evaluate an integrated CT-based care pathway for coronary artery disease, using AI-powered CT and Spectral CT imaging to support diagnosis, treatment planning, procedure guidance and follow-up care.
