Invesco Ltd. IVZ continues to strengthen its asset-gathering capabilities through its diversified investment platform spanning ETFs, index strategies, fixed income, private markets and global investment solutions. The company reported preliminary assets under management (AUM) of $2.56 trillion as of Aug. 31, 2026, up 4.7% from July. The increase was driven by $49 billion of favorable market returns, $27.6 billion of net long-term inflows and $2.7 billion of favorable foreign-exchange movements. Money-market products also attracted $35.8 billion of net inflows.
The August increase follows a strong first half of 2026. Invesco ended June with AUM of $2.47 trillion, up 23.4% year over year from $2.001 trillion a year earlier. During the first half, the company generated $66.9 billion of net long-term inflows, nearly double the $33.2 billion recorded in the prior-year period. Total net flows reached $96 billion, while market gains added $214.3 billion to AUM. This flow momentum, combined with favorable market conditions, provides a strong foundation for continued AUM expansion.
Yet, in July, AUM declined 0.9% from June 30, 2026, as unfavorable market returns more than offset positive flows and foreign-exchange gains.
The August rebound also builds on Invesco's longer-term AUM growth. Over the five years ended 2025, AUM increased at a 10% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). Average AUM was $2.29 trillion in the first half of 2026, compared with $1.89 trillion in the prior-year period.
The rise in AUM is important for Invesco's revenue growth because investment-management fees are based on AUM. Therefore, sustained growth in average AUM will likely support higher investment management fees, assuming revenue yields remain broadly stable.
IVZ’s August AUM Benefits From Strong Flows
The August increase was broad-based across several investment capabilities. ETFs & Index Strategies AUM rose 4.4% month over month to $783.4 billion, while QQQ AUM increased 8% to $489 billion. Global Liquidity AUM climbed 15.6% to $269.3 billion, reflecting strong money-market inflows.
Fundamental Equities AUM increased 1.7% to $317.7 billion, while Private Markets AUM rose 0.6% to $136.6 billion. China JV and Multi-Asset/Other AUM also increased sequentially to $166.7 and $84.5 billion, respectively. In contrast, Fundamental Fixed Income AUM edged down to $314.9 billion from $315.7 billion in July.
The strong performance of ETFs, QQQ, and liquidity products is particularly encouraging because these businesses have been important contributors to Invesco's recent flow momentum. During the first half of 2026, retail investors generated $62 billion of net long-term inflows, compared with $4.9 billion from institutional investors. Money-market inflows totaled $28.4 billion, including $24.1 billion from retail channels.
Our Take on Invesco’s AUM
Invesco's strong August AUM growth, improving long-term flows and continued demand for ETFs, index strategies, QQQ, and liquidity products are expected to support further asset gathering. The company's diversified investment capabilities also position it to benefit from demand across different asset classes and market conditions.
Preliminary average total AUM for the quarter through Aug. 31 was $2.49 trillion, while preliminary average active AUM was $1.24 trillion, indicating a meaningful increase in the asset base entering the final part of the quarter.
However, market performance remains an important variable for AUM. Changes in market values can materially affect AUM and, consequently, investment management fees. Thus, continued net inflows will be important to sustain growth if market conditions become less supportive.
AUM Performance of Invesco’s Peers
Franklin Resources, Inc. BEN has witnessed steady AUM growth, with preliminary AUM reaching $1.83 trillion as of Aug. 31, 2026, up 1.9% from $1.79 trillion at the end of July. The increase reflected favorable market conditions and $8 billion in long-term net inflows.
BEN’s expansion across equity, alternatives and multi-asset strategies should support further AUM growth. As of Aug. 31, equity AUM rose 2.3% to $775.1 billion, alternative AUM increased 1.8% to $301.6 billion, and multi-asset AUM grew 1.7% to $225.1 billion. Its strategic focus on private markets, alternatives, and digital assets, combined with continued long-term inflows and favorable market conditions, should support sustained AUM growth.
Lazard, Inc. LAZ has witnessed steady AUM growth, with preliminary AUM reaching $290.3 billion as of Aug. 31, 2026, up 1.2% from $286.9 billion at the end of July. The increase reflected $3.7 billion in market appreciation and $1.5 billion in foreign-exchange appreciation, partially offset by $1.8 billion in net outflows.
LAZ’s AUM growth was supported by higher equity, fixed-income and multi-asset assets, which rose 1.0%, 1.8% and 2.8%, respectively, to $218.4 billion, $35.6 billion and $25.3 billion. These gains were partly offset by a 0.5% decline in alternatives AUM to $11.0 billion.
