Investors often respond positively when a company expands its intellectual property portfolio, as new patents can signal potential revenue growth, stronger protection against competitors, and increased corporate value. It’s no surprise, then, that a veterinary health company’s shares surged following the announcement of newly issued U.S. patents.

Zomedica Corp. (OTCQB: ZOMDF), a veterinary health company specializing in point-of-care diagnostic and therapeutic devices for companion and equine animals, announced this morning that they have expanded its intellectual property portfolio with four new U.S. patents for its TRUVIEW and TRUFORMA platforms. These patents further protect the company’s innovative diagnostic technologies and bolster its ability to compete in the fast-growing veterinary diagnostics market, currently valued at $8–11 billion and expected to reach $17–22 billion by 2030–2032, with projected growth rates of 9–11% annually.

The newly issued patents cover advancements in the TRUVIEW Microscope, including automated slide processing and micro-stream fluid dispensing, ensuring consistent, lab-quality results at the point of care. Another patent protects the “Crowded Sensor” acoustic wave technology, which improves detection accuracy and enables multiplexed biomarker analysis. With these additions, Zomedica now holds 83 U.S. patents, 145 international patents, and 37 U.S. and 116 foreign trademarks, solidifying its market position while additional patent applications remain pending worldwide.

"These latest patents showcase Zomedica's ability to deliver innovation that creates value across the diagnostics spectrum," commented Ashley Wood, PhD, Zomedica's Vice President of Research & Development. "With patents protecting both the mechanics of slide preparation and the biochemistry of analyte detection, the TRUVIEW and TRUFORMA platforms are positioned as category-defining solutions in veterinary diagnostics. In a diagnostics market approaching $20 billion, we believe these advancements strengthen our competitive channel and open substantial opportunities for revenue growth."

Shares of ZOMDF were last trading at $0.08775, up 13.8% on volume of 626,000 shares in mid-morning trading.
