This Company (and Stock) Was The Best Find at 2023 PGA Golf Show in Orlando

After two years of disruptions owing to the global pandemic, the PGA Golf Show was back in 2023 and, by nearly all accounts, the 70th iteration was the most dynamic convention in years. Over the course of four days, Jan. 24-27, about 30,000 attendees gathered from over 86 countries to check out exhibits from 800+ golf companies showing off their new innovations that will mesmerize golfers and capture share in the $84 billion golf industry.

The star of the show was arguably the SR-1, a new single rider golf cart of Vantage Tag Systems (VTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of DSG Global (OTCQB: DSGT). Forget about all you think you know about single-person golf carts and personal transport vehicles (PTVs), DGST and Vantage Tag have taken it to a whole new level.

The SR-1 is as sleek aesthetically as it is mechanically sound and technology loaded. Constructed with ultra-strong, lightweight composite materials and aircraft-grade aluminum frame, the SR-1 is considerably lighter than a traditional cart carrying 2 people, so it is much easier on course wear and tear. With a low center of gravity, built-in stability control systems, pedestrian alert systems, auto park brake system, and an exceptional turning radius, the SR-1 is sure footed and a blast to drive.

The vehicle features a 6-way adjustable seat that rotates 180 degrees for riders that have mobility difficulty. Other interior features include a unique steering wheel with integrated high-definition screen that conveys course information, such as 3D hole flyovers, distance to the pin, a “cart look ahead” feature that provides the distance to players in front for safety, scoring, food and beverage ordering, and more. The interior also includes wireless phone charging, Bluetooth speakers, and two-way messaging with the clubhouse.

SR-1s are manufactured in the U.S. and Canada. With the unveiling at the PGA Show, Vantage Tag has begun taking reservations for deliveries targeted in Q2 2023. The company even offers a revenue-share package where operators have zero upfront costs to have the carts on their course.

From a course operator standpoint, the SR-1 is a maintenance breeze. The vehicle uses artificial intelligence to monitor its health, keeping tabs on critical measurements like battery charge, tire pressure, and motor temperature. AI also analyzes usage, documenting aggressive stops, impacts, abuse, and potentially dangerous operation, which will illicit different in-cart audio notifications.

Stock with Vantage Tag’s robust GPS management system, the SR-1 is equipped with geo-fencing, security lockdown, and pace of play monitoring features.

Anything that can improve the nagging problem of pace of play that course operators face will immediately garner industry attention. Single riders mean players move through rounds quicker, which equates to more rounds and profits for the golf course. The pace of play monitor alerts golfers when they’re moving slow and possibly holding up others.

Vantage Tag thought of it all in its SR-1 design, including advertising revenue. The LED-enabled front hood can be configured with unique messages and the cart has  the option to be vinyl-wrapped for opportunities with suppliers or sponsors.

A game changer in the golf and PTV markets, the SR-1 drew a lot of attention at the PGA Show, including interest from a 5-star resort operator, private and public golf courses, management companies, gated community personnel, and cart dealers from around the world, according to the company.

Stellar Market Research forecasts the PTV market to grow from $48.5 billion in 2021 to $78.7 billion by 2027. Market drivers include more environmentally conscious consumers and businesses aiming to reduce emissions by transitioning from fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.

As always, visitors to the PGA Show were treated to the best new products golf has to offer, including Acushnet’s (NYSE: GOLF) Titleist Limited Edition all-black titanium carbide vapor finish irons, new putters from Sumitomo’s (OTC: SSUMY) Cleveland Frontline brand, Rapsodo’s latest launch monitor, and a $14,000 pair of augmented reality glasses for reading greens. The show also featured reboots of sorts for iconic brands, including new personalized wedges from Zebra and the next chapter in the legacy of MacGregor Golf, now owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS), with their new forged irons.

The SR-1 wasn’t all Vantage Tag was displaying at its large booth. The company demonstrated its new 10” high-definition display and its industry-first mounting option. The screen, which provides all the course's pertinent information just like the SR-1’s does, can be mounted either from the steering column (portrait) or roof (landscape) without sacrificing the golfer’s viewing experience.

Last year, DSGT acquired worldwide rights to the iconic Shelby line of consumer and utility carts. The company has begun customizing carts with the high-performance brand, available in 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8-passenger configurations. The company reported selling several floor models on the spot while fielding other dealer inquiries.

Finally, Vantage Tag debuted the Vantage V-Club Fleet Cart, loaded with features and style designed to replace incumbents that have dominated golf courses for decades despite minimal innovation. The company even held a raffle to give away two of the fleet carts, for which over 3,500 attendees registered.

The V-Club is trumpeted as the most complete fleet cart on the market, equipped with an integrated GPS fleet management system and full suite of golfer amenities. Features include an 8-color palette for custom course branding, 12” color coordinated alloy wheels, industry leading maintenance-free 5kw AC high-torque motor, 105ah lithium battery pack for extended range, and regenerative braking with auto-park brake system. Golfers enjoy deep-pleat luxury seats, soft-grip 3-spoke steering wheel, 4 USB ports, split-fold windshield, beverage cooler, sand bottles, and folding canopy.

Saying he’s been excited many times throughout his 25+ years coming to the PGA Show, DSGT CEO Bob Silzer made it clear this one was special for his company. “This is the most excited I’ve ever been in our new product lineup and how it will change the golf industry. Sitting on a $14+ million backlog going into the show, we introduced our new V-Club Fleet Golf Cart (an upgrade modernizing the original fleet cart), the iconic Shelby consumer carts, the new 10” HD portrait and landscape INFINITY tablet, and show hero, the revolutionary SR-1 (first of its kind in the world market). Following a record setting year of sales in 2022, we now have dynamic products for both the commercial and consumer golf markets. The momentum from this show and product unveilings will substantially assist in expected sales from all products in 2023,” Silzer raved.
