Digestive health has become a sizable consumer-health category as patients increasingly look beyond short-term symptom relief toward products designed for regular use. In the U.S. alone, the digestive and gut health supplement market is estimated at $4.16 billion by one industry estimate, creating a broad commercial opportunity for companies that can carve out focused niches within the category.

Shares of Immuron Limited (NASDAQ: IMRN) are surging Friday after the Australian biopharmaceutical company announced an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement with Sweden-based Calmino group AB for PROIBS®, a digestive health product Immuron previously launched in Australia during fiscal 2026.

Immuron is focused on developing and commercializing orally delivered targeted polyclonal antibodies for infectious diseases, but management has also been expanding its commercial digestive health portfolio. The company already markets Travelan®, and said rapid U.S. sales growth for that product helped shape a broader strategy to introduce additional digestive health offerings.

PROIBS® is a European-certified medical device used for abdominal pain, bloating and unsettled bowel movements, including diarrhea and constipation. The product contains AVH200®, an ingredient derived from Aloe barbadensis Mill. that includes gel-forming components designed to support the intestinal mucosal barrier.

PROIBS® is suitable for long-term use, has an excellent safety profile and has no known interactions with other medications. Calmino, which developed the product, conducted a usability study involving 1,003 users. Calmino reported that 94% found PROIBS® helpful, 91% experienced an improvement in daily life and 98% said they would recommend it to someone else.

The U.S. agreement expands an existing relationship between Immuron and Calmino. PROIBS® has been available in Sweden's pharmacy market for more than a decade and is distributed internationally.

Immuron Chief Commercial Officer Flavio Palumbo said the launch fits the company's strategy of building a portfolio of innovative digestive health products following the growth of Travelan® in the U.S. He pointed to PROIBS®' long commercial history, science-based positioning and recommendation by physicians and dietitians as factors supporting the planned expansion.

For Immuron, the deal provides another product through which it can target the U.S. digestive health market without developing the underlying product from scratch. It also broadens the company's commercial portfolio beyond Travelan® while extending its relationship with an established European digestive health developer.

Shares of IMRN are up 55.9% to $1.73 in Friday morning trading.
