Critical minerals exploration increasingly comes down to a simple question: where should the next dollar be spent? Large land positions give explorers plenty of ground to evaluate, but determining which areas warrant detailed mapping, sampling and eventually drilling requires narrowing the search. Early reconnaissance provides that first geological screen before more focused exploration begins.

Shares of GoldHaven Resources Corp. (OTCQB: GHVNF) (CSE: GOH) are moving higher Friday after the company completed an initial geological reconnaissance program across approximately 123,900 hectares of critical minerals properties in Brazil. The fieldwork identified geological settings supporting further evaluation for copper, nickel, cobalt and rare earth elements in northern Bahia, along with lithium exploration in southern Bahia and Ceará.

In northern Bahia, GoldHaven's approximately 41,400-hectare land package is being evaluated under two exploration concepts. Fieldwork identified mafic rocks for copper-nickel-cobalt evaluation, while magnetic, potassium-rich rocks within the Itiúba Syenitic Massif provide a geological setting considered favorable for rare earth elements, niobium, zirconium and yttrium exploration. Thirteen rock samples were collected during the program.

Lithium exploration is the focus farther south. GoldHaven confirmed coarse-grained pegmatites within two tenements across its approximately 30,700-hectare southern Bahia package. Those areas have been selected for initial lithium-cesium-tantalum follow-up, including geochemical analysis, mineralogical studies and more detailed pegmatite mapping. The company cautioned that the presence of coarse-grained pegmatites alone does not establish LCT fertility.

The company's Ceará package adds approximately 51,800 hectares within and near the Solonópole Pegmatite Sub-province. Reconnaissance confirmed coarse-grained pegmatites in three tenements selected for initial LCT follow-up, while pegmatite veins and outcrops were identified in four additional tenements. Nineteen rock samples were collected there.

"This programme accomplished exactly what we set out to do — rapidly evaluate a large land position and identify the geological environments that warrant further investment," said President and CEO Rob Birmingham. "With samples now at the laboratory, the results will help us prioritize the strongest opportunities and determine where we focus our next phase of exploration."

Rock samples collected during the reconnaissance program have been submitted for laboratory analysis. GoldHaven said the results will be integrated with field observations and regional geological information to refine exploration priorities and determine where additional mapping, mineralogical studies and sampling are warranted.

Shares of GHVNF are up 3.2% to $0.1599 in Friday morning trading, while shares of GOH are ahead 2.3% to C$0.22.
