In the mining world, companies can have all the technology and resources at their disposal before drilling yet still be amazed by what they find underground. Today, one such company announced impressive drill results and is now preparing to explore new areas with promising potential that have seen little previous exploration.

Shares of Metals Creek Resources (TSX-Venture: MEK) are surging as the company announced this morning impressive new drill results from its Tillex Copper Project near Timmins, Ontario. One drill hole returned a broad mineralized section containing 1.82% copper and 13.17 grams per tonne (g/t) silver over 98.2 meters, including two especially rich zones. One of those high-grade intercepts contained 2.75% copper and 26.47 g/t silver over nearly 30 meters, and another smaller section yielded an eye-popping 14% copper and 216 g/t silver over just over half a meter. These results suggest there's strong and consistent copper and silver mineralization in areas that were previously overlooked.

The recent drilling program, which consisted of seven holes totaling just over 900 meters, aimed to expand known copper zones and test new areas with limited previous exploration. One key hole, TX25-034, was designed to target copper-rich rock types and confirm whether the mineralization continues across different rock contacts. The findings indicate that copper is more widespread and reliable in these rocks than previously thought. This bodes well for the future of the project, as the company now sees more potential in areas that earlier drillers had dismissed.

As mentioned, shares of MEK are currently up 40% at $0.035 in late-morning trading.
