As inflationary pressures persist and global monetary policy remains uncertain, investors continue to favor hard assets like gold. Major producers are increasingly looking to partner with junior explorers to secure the next wave of high-grade deposits. It’s a trend that has sparked renewed attention on emerging gold zones in underexplored regions, particularly in Canada.

One such junior, Puma Exploration Inc. (TSXV: PUMA) (OTCQB: PUMXF), is making waves today after announcing the kickoff of its 2025 drill program at the Lynx Gold Zone within the company’s Williams Brook Gold Project in northern New Brunswick. The news marks the beginning of a fully funded $2 million exploration campaign in collaboration with Kinross Gold (NYSE: KGC) (TSX: K), a major gold producer. Puma’s Canadian-listed shares surged 7.1% to C$0.075 on the news, while U.S.-listed shares gained 2.5% to $0.053.

The 2025 drill program, which includes an initial 3,500 meters of drilling, is designed to follow up on high-grade results from 2021 to 2023. According to Puma, the goal is to intersect new gold zones, further define structural controls, and delineate the lithological contacts responsible for mineralization. Once the first phase is complete, a second 1,500-meter program will be launched to target the most promising areas, informed by trenching, sampling, and surface exploration underway this year.

Previous campaigns at the Lynx Gold Zone have produced standout results. In 2021, hole WB21-02 intersected 5.55 g/t gold over 50.15 meters from surface, including 46.94 g/t over 3.85 meters. Follow-up drilling in 2022 revealed additional high-grade intercepts such as 34.93 g/t over 3.00 meters and 22.28 g/t over 3.20 meters. The 2023 program confirmed the lateral and vertical continuity of the system, with gold mineralization now mapped over 750 meters along strike and up to 250 meters downhole.

The Williams Brook Project—optioned to Kinross—spans more than 40,000 hectares. Kinross can earn a 65% interest by investing at least $16.75 million over five years, including a firm commitment of $2 million and 5,000 meters of drilling during the first 18 months. With the drills now turning, investors will be watching closely for additional high-grade results from this evolving gold district.

Canadian shares of PUMA are up 7.1% at C$0.075 in early morning trading Wednesday, while U.S.-listed shares of PUMXF have gained 2.5% at $0.053.
