The race to secure domestic sources of critical metals is heating up, and today a junior mining company announced a major development that brings it one step closer to becoming a potential leading producer of antimony in the United States.

Shares of Locksley Resources (OTCQB: LKYRF) are surging this morning as the company has submitted an expanded Plan of Operations to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for its Desert Antimony Prospect, part of the company’s Mojave Critical Minerals Project in California. This move is a key milestone as the company ramps up its exploration efforts just three kilometers from MP Materials’ (NYSE: MP) Mountain Pass Mine, the only operational rare earths mine in the United States.

Backed by a recently completed and oversubscribed capital raise, Locksley is fully funded for the expanded drilling program. Recent structural mapping and 3D modeling have significantly increased the target area for exploration, with BLM approvals expected this fall and drilling likely to begin soon afterward.

The Mojave Project includes over 250 claims spanning two major areas—North Block/Northeast Block and the El Campo Prospect—both located in California’s Mojave Desert. The North Block borders MP Materials’ claims, while El Campo is positioned along the same mineral strike as the Mountain Pass Mine, indicating strong geological potential.

A key feature of the project is the historic Desert Antimony Mine, which last operated in 1937. Despite the U.S. having minimal antimony production today, the metal is in high demand for use in defense, semiconductors, and metal alloys. Surface sampling at the site has returned exceptional grades, including antimony up to 46% and silver up to 1,022 g/t, suggesting the project may hold one of the country’s richest antimony deposits.

Shares of LKYRF are currently trading up 55% at $0.1147 in mid-morning trading.
