Market participants understand, though, that the market opportunity is much broader than just these automakers. Every single car that roles off a production line relies upon a deep supply chain that is still evolving within the nascent market. Many companies, from miners unearthing raw metals to tech experts, are going to be made and prosper by feeding demand if 58% of global passenger vehicle sales in 2040 will come from EVs, as predicted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

KULR Technology Proven in Space

For KULR Technology Group (OTCQB:KULR), the opportunity is in safety and performance of battery and energy storage systems beginning with lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. KULR’s passive propagation resistant (PPR) and internal short circuit (ISC) technologies will be used to develop 3D printed battery systems that meet the JSC 20793 Revision D safety standard created by NASA for crewed space missions.

KULR Landing on Earth

KULR was also recently selected by a global Tier-1 manufacturer of aerospace and defense technology to provide thermal management design services to improve performance of hypersonic weapons with KULR's advanced phase-change heatsink designs. The benefit is expected to be longer range and larger kinetic power than today's systems by overcoming limitations in heat dispersion.

KULR kept its non-disclosure promise by not saying which Tier 1 company it is, but from this list it is clear that this little company is working with some of the biggest in the world. It is not uncommon for top companies to not want their name made public for competitive reasons.

The company didn't have to be secretive in saying that it partnered with Airbus Defense and Space (OTC:EADSY) (Euronext: AIR) to provide its passive propagation resistant (PPR) battery design solutions for ongoing research into lithium-ion battery testing and safety for flight applications.

The Federal Aviation Administration has also called upon KULR, with the company supplying the FAA its internal short circuit (ISC) battery safety and testing device technology during Q4 2020.

As it continues to expand its aerospace business (including hypersonics, space vehicles, long range stand-off weapons and long loiter drones), KULR is off on a new mission to bring its space-qualified electronics cooling systems and solutions for preventing battery fires and explosions here on Earth. Backstopped not only by the NASA endorsement, KULR in December was featured in a report discussing research conducted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division on the company’s battery safety technology. The report confirms that KULR’s thermal management solutions can prevent cell-to-cell propagation, the hallmark of a runaway battery fire. In short, the technology works, even under the most extreme conditions.

The potential scope of commercial applications for KULR’s technologies is nearly boundless with usage for next-generation mobile, consumer electronics, cloud computing, energy storage, 5G communications, and E-Mobility (electric vehicle and autonomous driving).

It's not taking KULR long to establish itself as a key opinion leader and garner the attention of leading companies. On the regulatory front, KULR, a member of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, has participated in the United Nations Transport of Dangerous Goods Sub-Committee Informal Working Group to establish test methods and criteria by which lithium batteries can be more affectively regulated and partnered with Hazmat Safety Consulting to improve industry standards for commercial battery shipments.

In one of its first commercialization deals, KULR's thermal runaway shield (TRS) was selected by Americase for the shipment of lithium batteries last year. Americase is the go-to name in the electronics industry for shipments involving defective, damaged or recalled batteries, controlling a 70% market share.

KULR technology is also going into one of the world's elite supercars, the Drako GTE. Last year, Drako contracted KULR to use its thermal management products for the uber-high performance all-electric car that delivers a stunning 1,200 horsepower, 6,500 foot-pounds of wheel torque and a top speed of 206 mph. The $1.3-million GTE is powered by a 450-volt Li-ion battery system that cranks out up to 1,800 continuous and 2,200 peak amps. Drako is counting on KULR to help mitigate the extreme heat that is created in the process.

Investors should also be on the lookout for news relating to a memorandum of understanding between KULR and a "leading global electronics component and battery manufacturer" inked late in October. This anonymous manufacturer supplies key electrical components used in smartphones like the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone. The MOU spells out negotiations between the two parties where the manufacturer is evaluating KULR's ISC and TRS technology for potential commercialization.

Along the same lines, KULR is in discussions with a global Tier-1 power tool manufacturer to improve the efficiency of brushless DC (BLDC) motors with its FTI (Fiber Thermal Interface) cooling solution. Again, the name hasn't been disclosed, but the list of top companies shows less than 20 companies control over 90% of the $51 billion global power tool market.

The cordless power tool industry is ripe for innovation to give tools more power and longer run times. For those in the construction space, there is nothing more frustrating than having to change batteries frequently or a tool lacking the power to get a job done.
