Hinge Health, Inc. HNGE plans to acquire Cylinder Health for $105 million in cash, giving the company a direct entry into gastrointestinal care, a market management sizes at $135 billion.
The investor question is whether Hinge can use the distribution and engagement capabilities built around musculoskeletal care to make GI a meaningful new growth engine. The opportunity is sizable, but the deal also adds integration work and near-term investment requirements.
Hinge's Cylinder Deal Opens GI to Its Platform
Cylinder brings nearly 100 clients covering about 2 million lives, plus relationships with major pharmacy benefit managers and national health plans. Hinge intends to combine that footprint with the technology and commercial infrastructure already supporting its musculoskeletal business.
The strategy extends Hinge beyond core musculoskeletal care without requiring an entirely separate go-to-market model. Management believes the same enrollment and engagement capabilities used across its existing platform can support expansion into adjacent chronic conditions.
HNGE Gains Nearly 100 Clients and 2 Million Lives
Cylinder gives Hinge an established GI customer base at the outset. That reduces the need to build distribution from scratch and creates another path to deepen relationships with employers and health plans already buying virtual-care programs.
The acquisition also fits Hinge's broader land-and-expand strategy. Adding GI alongside musculoskeletal and Migraine care could increase wallet share over time if clients adopt multiple programs through the same commercial channels.
Hinge Sees a Larger 2027 GI Rollout
Management expects Cylinder to contribute about $7-$8 million of revenues in 2026 after the anticipated third-quarter close. A broader GI rollout is targeted for 2027, making the initial contribution modest relative to the acquisition price.
Longer term, management sees GI yield potentially approaching musculoskeletal levels as Hinge applies its enrollment and engagement capabilities to Cylinder's platform. Reaching that level would require successful integration and sustained member participation rather than simply adding the acquired client base.

HNGE Must Absorb Integration and Funding Costs
The $105 million purchase adds integration work while Hinge continues to fund new products. Management has said GI will require investment before the broader 2027 rollout, which could temper the pace of margin expansion if spending rises faster than expected.
The company is investing in other areas at the same time, including Migraine. A faster build-out across GI, Migraine or additional programs could increase operating demands even as Hinge's companywide profitability improves.
Hinge's Existing Channels Could Accelerate GI
Hinge already serves nearly 3,000 clients, including more than half of the Fortune 100. Migraine adoption reached more than 450 clients and over 5 million eligible lives in the second quarter, showing that a new program can gain traction through the company's existing channels.
The broader market is competitive. Omada Health, Inc. OMDA offers virtual programs spanning musculoskeletal and cardiometabolic conditions to employers and health plans. Teladoc Health, Inc. TDOC also markets a broad virtual-care portfolio to employers and health plans, reinforcing the competition for integrated digital-care budgets.
Hinge's Neutral Signal Frames the Cylinder Bet
Cylinder expands Hinge's addressable opportunity and gives it an immediate GI foothold, but the investment case still depends on execution. The near-term revenue contribution is limited, while integration and reinvestment must be managed alongside the company's other growth programs.
HNGE currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). That ranking supports a measured view of the stock's near-term prospects rather than a clear directional call. HNGE’s Style Scores present a mixed picture. The stock has a Growth Score of A, highlighting favorable growth prospects, but its Value Score of D suggests that the shares are not particularly attractive on valuation metrics. Momentum is also a major concern, with an F score indicating weak recent price performance.
