HYPE Jumps 17% After Trump Backs CFTC Path for Hyperliquid in U.S.

Hyperliquid’s HYPE token (CRYPTO: $HYPE) jumped 17% Wednesday after President Donald Trump said Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Michael Selig is working to bring the perpetual futures platform into the U.S. in a “fully compliant and legal fashion.”

The rally spread quickly across regulated products tied to the ecosystem. The 21Shares Hyperliquid ETF, Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF and Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF each gained nearly 20%, while Nasdaq-listed Hyperliquid Strategies (NASDAQ: $PURR) rose 30.4%.

“I understand Mike Selig is also working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal fashion,” Trump said during a White House press conference with technology leaders, regulators and crypto executives.

Hyperliquid has already been pushing for a route into the U.S. market, where its onchain perpetual futures remain unavailable to domestic users. The CFTC opened a path for regulated bitcoin perpetual products earlier this year through KalshiEX and Coinbase, bringing a structure long dominated by offshore crypto venues closer to the U.S. derivatives market.

Selig said in June that onchain technology such as Hyperliquid could “transform our markets,” adding that regulators want to create a path for those markets to operate in the U.S. under an appropriate framework.

Wednesday’s comments came during a broader White House meeting attended by Selig, SEC Chair Paul Atkins and executives from Coinbase (NASDAQ: $COIN), Ripple, Robinhood (NASDAQ: $HOOD), Kraken, Nasdaq and Intercontinental Exchange. Trump also urged lawmakers to pass the CLARITY Act, which remains stalled in Congress.

Crypto-linked markets were already rallying into the event. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) pushed toward $70,000, Strategy (NASDAQ: $MSTR) gained nearly 12% and Coinbase rose about 9%, extending a rebound across digital assets and public-market crypto exposure.

Hyperliquid has grown into one of the largest venues for onchain perpetual trading while remaining outside the U.S. A regulated route would bring that liquidity closer to the same domestic market structure now forming around perpetual futures and other crypto derivatives.

Hyperliquid (CRYPTO: HYPE) is currently trading at $71.00 U.S. per digital token.
