3 Beauty Stocks Poised to Gain From Innovation and Digital Reach

An updated edition of the July 9, 2026 article.

Beauty and cosmetics continue to occupy an important place in consumer spending, helped by frequent product usage and a steady appetite for new launches. The industry has expanded well beyond traditional makeup, with skincare, fragrance, haircare and wellness-oriented products drawing wider interest. This broader category mix, along with relatively accessible price points, can help beauty demand hold up even when consumers become more careful with discretionary purchases.

One of the biggest forces shaping the market is the changing way consumers choose products. Buyers are paying closer attention to effectiveness, ingredients, brand credibility and price-value equations rather than relying only on established labels. At the same time, younger consumers are experimenting more freely across brands, creating opportunities for companies that can identify emerging preferences early and bring relevant products to market quickly.

Innovation is another key pillar of the industry’s long-term potential. Companies are investing in advanced formulations, customized solutions and products that combine cosmetic benefits with skincare or wellness attributes. Fragrance has also emerged as an important growth category, while demand for premium products continues to coexist with strong interest in affordable alternatives. Such diversity allows beauty companies to address a wide range of consumers and spending levels.

The rapid convergence of stores, e-commerce and social platforms is further changing how beauty products are discovered and purchased. Digital content can generate product awareness quickly, while physical retail remains valuable for consultation, testing and discovery. Against this backdrop, e.l.f. Beauty, Inc. ELF is closely tied to the affordable, trend-driven beauty segment, while Ulta Beauty, Inc. ULTA provides broad exposure to the category through its mix of mass and prestige offerings.

From an investment perspective, the beauty space offers exposure to structural demand drivers as well as changing consumer trends. Success, however, is likely to depend on more than category growth alone. Companies with a strong innovation pipeline, effective pricing, differentiated brands and the ability to engage shoppers across channels appear better equipped to capture opportunities as the industry develops. Investors looking to tap into this trend may consider stocks featured in our Beauty & Cosmetics Screen, such as Bath & Body Works, Inc. BBWIThe Estee Lauder Companies Inc. EL and Coty Inc. COTY.

3 Beauty and Cosmetic Stocks in Focus

Bath & Body Works is adapting its beauty and personal-care proposition as shoppers increasingly look for product efficacy, ingredient transparency and elevated fragrance experiences. Its Consumer First Formula places innovation at the center of the strategy, with a greater focus on body care, soaps, sanitizers and fragrance-led products. The Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company is developing ingredient-led formulas, clearer product benefits and more modern packaging to strengthen its relevance with changing consumer preferences. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

BBWI is also responding to interest in more thoughtfully formulated beauty products. Its Feel Good Formula emphasizes consciously clean, tested ingredients, and the company says its products are made without sulfates, parabens and phthalates and are not tested on animals. Select products are also specifically labeled vegan. Within body care, BBWI is increasing fragrance loads and expanding its Everyday Luxuries franchise into additional forms and sizes, while new hand-soap formulas combine fragrance with moisturizing and revitalizing benefits.

The strategy extends beyond formulation. BBWI is using collaborations, influencers and stronger social storytelling to increase brand relevance, while Amazon, digital upgrades and improved store navigation broaden product discovery. Initiatives around White Barn Neutrals illustrate its effort to combine fragrance innovation, contemporary presentation and creator-led engagement as it works toward becoming a category-leading global brand.

The Estee Lauder Companies is adapting its prestige beauty portfolio to changing consumer preferences through science-led innovation, faster product development and stronger digital engagement. Under its Beauty Reimagined strategy, the company is using AI-enabled consumer insights and increasing consumer-facing investments across skincare, makeup and fragrance. Recent innovation includes PDRN-based offerings from Clinique and The Ordinary, alongside new skincare products from the Estée Lauder brand.

EL is also addressing growing consumer interest in ingredient transparency, vegan formulations and more sustainably developed beauty. The Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) company considers safety, performance, sustainability and green chemistry in product development, while individual brands pursue distinct positioning. Origins offers 100% vegan products, while Aveda describes its formulas as 100% vegan and is Leaping Bunny approved. ELC also identifies several portfolio brands as cruelty-free, though such claims are not applied across its entire portfolio.

Beyond products, EL is widening consumer access through specialty retail, social commerce and direct-to-consumer channels. Its One ELC operating model, unified global media approach and AI-powered personalization support efforts to improve brand discovery and engagement across an increasingly digital beauty marketplace.

Coty is sharpening its beauty strategy as consumers increasingly look for innovation, brand authenticity and greater transparency around products and ingredients. Its Coty.Curated framework concentrates investment in fewer, more scalable initiatives, while the Color the Future program aims to simplify Consumer Beauty and improve innovation speed. Brands such as Burberry, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Kylie Cosmetics remain important platforms across fragrance and cosmetics.

Coty also participates in clean, vegan and cruelty-free beauty trends through specific brands rather than a portfolio-wide positioning. Kylie Cosmetics is explicitly positioned by Coty as clean, vegan and cruelty-free, while COVERGIRL is Leaping Bunny approved. Coty has also used clean and vegan positioning within COVERGIRL’s Clean Fresh franchise. Philosophy, another Leaping Bunny-approved Coty brand, emphasizes high-performance yet gentle skincare through its dermatologic wisdom formulation principles.

Digital innovation adds another layer to Coty’s strategy. The Zacks Rank #3 company is deploying AI-enabled content production and generative-engine optimization to strengthen visibility as beauty discovery moves into newer digital channels. These efforts complement Coty’s broader emphasis on consumer advocacy, sharper targeting and more focused marketing investment.
