CBRS' Global Expansion Boosts Growth Prospects Against NVDA & MSFT

Cerebras Systems CBRS is expanding its international footprint as demand for high-speed Artificial Intelligence (AI) inference rises across enterprises, hyperscalers and sovereign AI initiatives. The company has data centers operational or under contract outside the United States in France, Finland and Norway, as well as Manitoba, Montreal, Saskatchewan and Toronto in Canada. This distributed infrastructure should bring compute closer to customers, broaden Cerebras’ addressable market and strengthen its ability to compete with NVIDIA NVDA and Microsoft MSFT in the global AI infrastructure market.

Cerebras has secured more than 600 megawatts of data-center capacity that is either live or contracted for delivery by the end of 2027, while its pipeline of additional opportunities is measured in gigawatts. Its inference-focused architecture provides flexibility in selecting sites because it does not require the gigawatt-scale locations typically associated with large training clusters. Cerebras has expanded manufacturing capacity and expects it to increase more than 10-fold in 2026, supporting the infrastructure required for further geographic growth.
International markets are already making a meaningful contribution to Cerebras’ business. UAE-based Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence accounted for 34% of revenues in the second quarter of 2026 and 49% in the first half of 2026, while G42 contributed 9% and 10%, respectively. The company’s customer base also includes sovereign AI initiatives, reinforcing the opportunity to serve governments and organizations that require greater control over infrastructure and data. Cerebras supports such customers through on-premises systems, Cerebras Cloud and partner-cloud offerings.

Europe is becoming an important component of the expansion. Cerebras said its agreement with AI coding company Lovable extended its European presence, complementing new agreements with Figma and Cognition. Cerebras signed six deals worth more than $30 million each during the second quarter of 2026. The company’s collaboration with Amazon Web Services ("AWS") could broaden its international reach, with Cerebras-powered inference expected to become generally available through Amazon Bedrock in the first quarter of 2027.

CBRS management said the AWS relationship provides global reach, while discussions with other hyperscalers could begin generating revenues in mid-2027 and ramp through 2028. Notably, the roughly $25 billion of remaining performance obligations (RPO) do not include backlog from AWS or other hyperscalers.

CBRS Faces Tough Competition

Microsoft is challenging Cerebras through Azure’s massive global infrastructure footprint. MSFT added 31 data centers across five continents in its fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and 88 during fiscal 2026, while adding another gigawatt of capacity. Microsoft remains on track to roughly double overall capacity in two years. Its Sovereign Cloud initiatives, including support for Mistral models across public, customer-controlled and fully disconnected environments, strengthen its appeal to international enterprises with data-sovereignty requirements.

NVIDIA presents an equally significant challenge. Its ACIE business, which includes NeoCloud, industrial and enterprise customers and has significant sovereign AI exposure, generated $40 billion in revenues in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, up 25% sequentially and 138% year over year. Growth was driven by NeoCloud capacity additions to meet rising demand from enterprises, AI startups and sovereign customers. NVIDIA expects its NeoCloud partners to exit 2026 with eight gigawatts of installed capacity, up from roughly three gigawatts at the end of 2025. NVIDIA’s sovereign AI business grew 35% sequentially and more than tripled year over year, while a record 35 new NVIDIA-powered AI supercomputers were unveiled in Europe. This expanding global ecosystem could make international share gains more difficult for Cerebras.
