Fluorspar, or fluorite, is a mineral composed of calcium fluoride, known for its colorful crystalline appearance. High-grade fluorspar is a strategic resource valued for its fluorine content, with critical applications in industries such as electronics and renewable energy. Given its importance and limited global supply, news of an American fluorspar project acquisition drew strong investor interest, sending shares of the acquiring micro-cap company soaring.

As mentioned, shares of CleanTech Vanadium Mining Corp. (TSX-Venture: CTV) (OTCQB: CTVFF) were on a tear today as the company announced that it has entered into a binding option-to-purchase agreement through its subsidiary US Fluorspar LLC to acquire mineral rights to the Campbell, Crotser, and Swinford parcels in Livingston County, Kentucky. Covering approximately 250 acres, the Campbell Crotser Fluorspar Project sits within the historic Illinois–Kentucky Fluorspar District, a region renowned for its fluorspar production since the 1870s and noted for its significant output of fluorspar, zinc, lead, and barite.

The project area features Mississippi Valley-Type mineralization with fluorspar-rich veins hosted in Mississippian-aged limestones and controlled by steep normal faults. Mineralization includes coarse-grained fluorite with associated calcite, barite, sphalerite, and galena. A historic (1974) resource estimate reported over 800,000 tons grading 37.10% CaF₂ along with zinc and lead, though CleanTech notes that this estimate is not NI 43-101 compliant, has not been verified by a qualified person, and should not be relied upon as a current resource.

"The Campbell Crotser Fluorspar Project is a significant Fluorspar project with over 60 historic drill holes in the heart of America's historic fluorspar belt in Kentucky. The district has good infrastructure and stand-by processing capacities to expedite project development. We are a mega firm believer in Fluorspar prospects: this key critical mineral is vital in the production of nuclear power, lithium batteries, semiconductors, high-voltage electrical switches, refrigerant for air conditioning, steel and aluminum. We are witnessing a highly-competitive global land-grab of Fluorspar resources. Through this acquisition, Cleantech is leading the US Fluorspar foray in the junior mining space," stated Ron Espell, President of the Company.

Under the binding option-to-purchase agreement (OTP), CleanTech will acquire the Campbell Crotser Fluorspar Project from the Vendor for a total of US $2,000,000. The payment structure includes US $75,000 upon signing (already paid), an additional US $75,000 on or before the first anniversary if CleanTech chooses to extend the OTP for 12 more months, and US $1,850,000 due at closing when the project title transfers to the company. CleanTech also retains the right to exercise the option at any time by paying the remaining balance of the purchase price, less any amounts already paid.

Shares of CTV are currently up 40% at $0.035 in early-afternoon trading.
