Advancing past-producing precious metals assets toward production relies on securing regulatory amendments for existing waste and processing facilities. Re-establishing full permit compliance under previously approved operational parameters removes primary administrative risk, allowing management to prioritize site rehabilitation and commercial planning while maintaining low capital intensity.

Galantas Gold Corporation (TSX-Venture: GAL) advanced Thursday after Chile's mining regulator, SERNAGEOMIN, approved the official permit amendment to restart the Ripios waste dumps at the Andacollo gold project in the Coquimbo Region. Management framed the approval as the final primary regulatory requirement for the asset, following key approvals granted earlier in August.

Andacollo is a past-producing heap-leach operation that has been suspended since 2016. The approval covers dump facilities VII, VIII, and IX, which retain approximately 16.4 million tonnes of authorized capacity (roughly 81% of total permitted space). The permit allows for a four-year operating window from the commencement of active mining. While Galantas now holds the primary permits required under the original mine design and operating parameters, a formal production decision remains subject to final engineering, site rehabilitation, project financing, and board approval.

Next catalysts include ongoing engineering design updates, local contractor selection, and strategic financing announcements regarding the potential restart.

Shares of GALKF rose 14.8% to $0.31 on the TSX Venture.
