The old saying “patience is a virtue” couldn’t be more fitting today, as this junior miner has finally secured its long-awaited drill permit after years of effort.

Shares of Tinka Resources Ltd. (TSX-Venture: TK) (OTCQB: TKRFF) are on the upswing this morning as the company announced it has received official approval from Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines to begin drilling at its 100%-owned Silvia gold-copper project. Located about 100 km south of the Antamina copper mine, Silvia lies within one of the world’s most productive copper belts and hosts several promising drill targets, particularly in the Silvia NW area. Surface samples from “Area A” have shown impressive grades of up to 22 g/t gold and 12% copper, making it the company’s priority for initial drilling. The mineralization is linked to altered intrusions and limestone skarn, with much of the prospective ground still concealed beneath shallow cover.

Dr. Graham Carman, Tinka's President and CEO stated: "Receiving formal notification from the Peruvian authorities of this important milestone at Silvia is a big step forward for the Company, as we now have a gold-copper property in our portfolio with multiple targets that can be moved forward without delay, subject only to adequate financing. Silvia provides Tinka the opportunity to move into gold and copper exploration whilst we continue with the strategic review at our flagship Ayawilca zinc - tin project. To finally have the drill permit at Silvia, after working on permitting for several years, is a great achievement by the Tinka team."

Tinka fully acquired the Silvia gold-copper project from BHP in 2021 through a one-time cash payment plus a 1% NSR royalty. The property spans 10,906 hectares of exploration concessions, situated directly north of Grupo Breca’s Raura zinc-copper-silver mine. Exploration has outlined three mineralized zones at Silvia NW—Areas A, B, and C—stretching along a four-kilometre northeast trend across the Andes.
