BC Copper Explorer Hits Native Copper and Potassic Alteration in Phase II Drilling

In porphyry copper exploration, drilling into proximal potassic alteration is the critical geological milestone that signals proximity to the high-grade magmatic center. When early diamond drill holes in an active program cut through overprinting alteration corridors, intersecting native copper and stockwork copper sulphides along the margins of expanding chargeability anomalies, the market gets direct visual confirmation of a large, active hydrothermal system.

Torr Metals Inc. (TSX-Venture: TMET) announced Tuesday that the first four diamond drill holes of its Phase II campaign at Bertha North have confirmed a broad, copper-bearing porphyry system. Rigs have completed 1,733m of an expanded, fully funded program of up to 6,000m at the Kolos project in southern British Columbia, located 30 km southeast of the Highland Valley Copper Mine.

Geological logging from the initial holes revealed strong multi-stage veining, hydrothermal brecciation, and visual copper mineralization. Crucially, hole 26-KO-03 cut into a K-feldspar-dominant potassic-altered intermediate intrusive from 425m to 444m within a broader 104m sericitic halo, with copper sulphides concentrated along the intrusive contacts. Active hole 26-KO-04 reached 180m depth, encountering near-surface native copper in veins for the first time in Phase II while advancing directly toward the strongest portion of an open-at-depth chargeability response.

Next primary catalysts for Torr Metals include laboratory assays from the first three completed holes, continued step-out drilling into the core of the chargeability anomaly, and follow-up petrographic verification.

Shares of TMET are up 60.0% to $0.16.
